Summary/Abstract: The article examines the characteristic features of the Jewish Labor Committee's relief actions in France in the immediate postwar period. Created by Bundists in New York in 1934, the Jewish Labor Committee (JLC) was connected to social-democratic circles in Europe, especially Bundist organizations, which were responsible for the receiving and distribution of its social and cultural aid. Through the Bundist mutual aid society, Arbeter Ring in Paris, the JLC helped Holocaust survivors and non-Jewish Socialist activists to rebuild new lives. Its actions in postwar France concerned both short- and long-term reconstruction. The article also explores the entanglement of the JLC's relief actions with the political activism of its leaders.
