Migrations in the Russian Federation in the 21st Century: Social and Political Risks

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with migrations taking place in the Russian Federation in the 21st century. The author regards migration processes as one of the leading factors of the political development of the Russian Federation. It is considered how migration flows can influence social and political processes in the country, including safeguarding of social and political stability, ethnopolitical and social development, and national security. The author reveals the inevitability and importance of migrations for the development of Russia, at the same time drawing attention to the necessity of deliberate and reasonable approaches to the regulation of migration flows, which, in uncontrollable forms, can change Russian society quickly, dramatically, and irrevocably.
