Summary/Abstract: The paper describes the partial archaeological investigations of an Ottoman religious complex in central Sarajevo, the importance of which was at its height in the latter half of the 18th and first half of the 19th century. Until now, written documents have received more attention than built structures. These excavations uncovered parts of a mosque and a madrasa and the remains of an exhumed and dispersed burial ground, the latter of a size appropriate to the buildings forming an extremely important religious centre, with a boundary wall separating it from the secular activities adjacent to it in Atmejdan.
