Summary/Abstract: Through The Images of My TV starts from the idea that contemporary man has the feeling that he/she can control reality and can shape the face of the world just by switching the channels of his/her Tv. The author offers an essay about television as an art of illusion, as an “extension of reality to the place where fiction ought to be”. Moreover, television, which can only develop in a democratic world, contains the very paradox of democracy : “it speaks to everybody, but it isolates the viewers, it promotes…equality, but it creates islands, it provides…substance for debate and dialogue, but it gives birth to loneliness. It opens up…towards anybody, but it undermines solidarity in its fundamental cell.”
