Summary/Abstract: The author, who conceals her identity behind an internet address, is presenting us with a “diary” of civilian life in Iraq, after Saddam’s overthrow. Her comments and the searing episodes of her narrative are a testimony to the dramatic existence of civilian Iraqis, to the lack of understanding shown by the U.S. troops to many cultural traits and to the social habits which are peculiar to this country, to the deep-going upheavals at all the levels of daily life. The Third Prize awarded by “Lettre Ulysses Awards” in 2005.
