Summary/Abstract: Knowledge of education may be understood in terms of academic and popular knowledge, and especially taking into consideration the cognitive paradigm it may also be referred to the individual (personal) dimension. The aim of the article is to show how individual knowledge of education may be explained and understood, as it de facto particularly unites popular and personal motifs. In the article the possibility is presented of applying the social patterns theory to explaining and understanding individual knowledge of education. The theory, although it has been formed on the basis of social psychology that clearly respects the cognitive perspective, may serve well expanding the individual’s knowledge about the fragment of the social environment that is constituted by education. It is also worth stressing that the need to define the individual knowledge about education as a theoretical-research category in pedagogy and to make it operational, results from the fact of its close connection with such key concepts as educational consciousness and pedagogical culture.
