Summary/Abstract: Environmental history and historical anthropology attracted attention in the humanities of the German speaking world only in the second half of the 20th century. This contribution sketches, first, the basic intentions of historical anthropology and environmental history. Secondly, the contentrelated, theoretical and methodological intersections of both the approaches will be analyzed. They consist, for instance, in the acknowledged interdependency of the macro- and micro-perspectives, in their focus on transdisciplinary approaches as well as in their preference of historical-dynamical explanations. In the final section, eight fields of questions will be formulated exemplarily, which are addressed from a historical-anthropological view at an environmental history of the triplex confinium in the Drava valley.
