Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article was to present the phenomenon of political paranoia and selected views on the state, important social and political issues of politically paranoid people. The empirical basis was a series of research carried out on representative samples of adult Poles in the 1990s and the 2000s. Data showing that the political paranoia cannot be treated as a psychopathological phenomenon were presented. It was found that the intensity of political paranoia increased during years of system transformation and consolidation of democracy in Poland. It turned out that politically paranoid people were in favor of solidarity state and populist resolutions of important socio-economic issues. It was found that politically paranoid persons did not understand democracy according to it lexical definition and that understanding democracy as a religious and welfare state was close to them. Important psychological benefits resulting of paranoid political thinking were shown.
