Summary/Abstract: The reform of the agricultural insurance system in Poland stirs up considerable controversy. There are doubts concerning, among other things, the possibility of insuring entrepreneurs holding land in the agricultural insurance system [KRUS]. The research was aimed at identifying relations between agricultural activities and non-agricultural activities in which owners of agricultural farms are engaged. The research results show the declining nature of agricultural products in entities under analysis owned by farmers. At the same time some circles have been pushing for proposals as part of which farmers engaged in nonagricultural activities would be covered by the social insurance system (ZUS) which may result in transferring such a business into a gray economy, that, in turn, would be detrimental to the entire system of public finances.
