Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the study is to determine the success of cartoon techniques for the grade 6th students of primary school for their understanding of idioms and proverbs. In this study, Quasi-experimental design was used. The selection of the group as signed randomly. One of the Primary schools in Erzurum exercised the students of the grade six for the experiment. There were 21 female students and 15 in the experiment groups. Total 68 students including 15 female students and 17 male students participated for the pilot groups. The data collection of the survey throughth learning achievement test consisted with included 5 multiple choice questions, 10 matching and 2 open-ended as a total 17 question of proverb and idioms. The obtained data analyzed by the SPSS 16.0 static program, the test technique was used for the dependent and independent samples. As a conclusion we determined that teaching proverbs and idioms using caricatures became more effective than traditional approaches.
