Summary/Abstract: The current article is devoted to study of representations of Polish higher education in major newspapers and weekly magazines in 2008-2012. The author concentrates on the analysis of main elements of (hegemonic) discourse, mainly in texts published in „Gazeta Wyborcza”, „Rzeczpospolita”, „Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” and „Polityka”. The debate on higher education turned to be highly ideological and in the end provided support to the implementation of neoliberal reforms in academia.
