Summary/Abstract: This paper presents some aspects relating to the development of the antidumping legislation, in the beginning of the last century. The motives behind Canada’s law or the United States’ seem to have had little to do with combating unfair trade, instead focusing on alleviating the pressure of external competition on some very powerful national interests.
