Summary/Abstract: This short review presents main arguments of Leszek Zwierzyński's book “Existence and eschatology. Mystic imagination of Słowacki” published in 2008 by the University of Silesia Publishing House. Zwierzyński attempts to reconstruct the patterns that determine the poet's imagination in the last period of his work. The author is inspired by Bachelard's, Poulet's and Starobinski's writing, he transforms however their theory of critique thématique so that it can be used to interpret mystic texts. Leszek Zwierzyński regards Słowacki's late works as a complex structure that is shaped by the same imaginary and symbolic pattern.
