Commentaries for the Polish wanderer in Gustaw Manteuffel's 1906 "Guide to Riga and the Surrounding Area"

Summary/Abstract: Gustaw Manteuffel's “Guide to Riga and the Surrounding Area” is addressed to the „Polish wanderer”. This guide will lead him to every mark left in the city by Polish history and discuss it in his native language. In order to minimize the experience of foreignness the author of the guide translates proper names into Polish and compares the masterpieces of Riga with the Polish ones. Manteuffel transcribed the city into Polish paths.
