Summary/Abstract: Zdzisław Stroiński is one of the most eminent representatives of the generation of Columbuses. He was inspired by the romantic tradition, poets of the Cracow's avant-garde (Awangarda Krakowska) and so called second avant-garde (Druga Awangarda) as well as works of Rimbaud, Superville or Kasprowicz. One of the great poets of the Romanticism who both inspired Stroiński and provoked polemics was Juliusz Słowacki. The author of the article analyzes Stroiński's poems to demonstrate that he found in the romantic poet's works the ideas congruent with the situation of his own generation but he transformed such ideas in his own, exceptional way.
