"Beatrix Cenci" – in film and gender perspective

Summary/Abstract: In 2009, under the celebration of Juliusz Słowacki's Year, Maciej Sobociński staged “Betrix Cenci” in Słowacki's Theatre in Cracow. The director concentrated on arranging space, stage designing and visual effects that were used to illustrate the story of the Cenci family. The author of the review proves demonstrates that the latest “Beatrix Cenci” production offers the possibility of interpreting Słowacki's drama through contemporary means of expression and in the context of gender theory.
