Summary/Abstract: Why is there poetry at all and not naught? If I rewrite Heidegger’s question that is ”why is there existence and not naught” -- then by inserting ”poetry” in the place of ”existence”, i.e. covering the ”two” with poetry like a card, I enter into a bold game and ask an overstretched, philosophically easy-to-veto, straight question, which is, however, not foreign to the spirit of the person who we are going to conjure up here today.* *(footnote) The edited version of the text delivered at the Sziveri conference organized by the Circle of Young Writers of Szeged on August 2, 1998 in Szeged.
