Summary/Abstract: Our article aims to understand, first, how the idea of human dignity is constituted as a fundamental value of a possible European identity. It also examines some historical and philosophical premises of this concept and then analyzes the definition of this principle in certain EU texts and its use by the Court of Justice of the European Union.
