Political History or Historical Awareness? Activites of the Institute of National Remembrance

Summary/Abstract: Major tasks of the Institute of National Remembrance between 2000 and 2011 included: mission to increase historical awareness in the society with major stress put on „regaining” remembrance about censored and hidden by the regime historical facts. On the other hand, one of the most important activities was deconstructing the communistic historical propaganda. Starting from 2006 the Institute began to realize political history understanded as promotion of historical problems selected from the width education activities or science research conducted by the Institute. The dynamics of this activities collapsed after the 10th of April 2010 r., when the president of the mainboard of the Institute prof. Janusz Kurtyka died in the airplane crash.
