Social Housing - Actual Issues and Trends in Its Support

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents selected areas of social housing in Slovakia and abroad. Through the legislative framework describes the essential criteria and context of the underlying support for its implementation. Maps the problem definition of social housing as well as target groups for which should be addressed. It also deals with some problematic issues and undesirable consequences related to social housing. Identifies trends in social housing in selected areas, presents various alternative forms of support. The end of the article shows the development of public rental sector and estimates of social housing in Slovakia, together with international statistics in this field.
