Summary/Abstract: The paper presents an attempt to verify the hypothesis that the sequence and the way in which a child acquires elements comprising the morphological subsystem of language (inflection) are in any way connected to the syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations within this subsystem. Pinpointing such connections is important in order to establish the developmental norms for language acquisition. As the starting point the analysis uses chapters from books by Smoczyńska (1986), Smoczyński (1955) and Zarębina (1965, 1994), discussing the acquisition of the morphological subsystem. These data are compared with information from [Gramatyka współczesnego języka polskiego}. {Morfologia} (Grammar of Contemporary Polish, Morfology) (GWJP 1998). The article is an extension of theses presented in a paper {Po co logopedzie językoznawstwo, czyli jak dziecko uczy się fleksji i jak językoznawcy mogą pomóc w zrozumieniu tego procesu} (Why do speech therapists need linguistics or how a child acquires inflection and how linguists can help understanding this process). It discusses the categories of aspect, tense, mood, number and gender.
