Summary/Abstract: The comparison between the contents of Słowniczek wyrazów ludowych we wsi Jaksicach (Lexicon of Folk Terms Used in the Village of Jaksice) compiled by Zygmunt Wasilewski (1899) and contemporary data has shown which elements of the rural dialect of Jaksice disappeared or underwent semantic changes, and which have remained unchanged, maintaining their old semantic function. Among the 253 lexemes featured in the Lexicon 56 (22%) units have disappeared; 79 (31%) have changed meaning; 118 lexemes (47%) have remained unchanged. The comparison shows that the old form of the rural dialect is disappearing and the language used today is much more similar to standard Polish.
