Summary/Abstract: Russian Czar’s conquered the region in the second half of the 19th century. Thereafter, after they tried to introduce the modern educational set up in the region, but they failed. After the glorious Revolution of 1917, the Soviets introduced the education set up with zeal and vigor. They succeeded in their endeavor and by the end of 70 years of their rule there was 100% literacy in the region. A number of schools and institutions were established with such an educational system that was almost common throughout the Soviet Union with little changes here and there. After independence there was a radical reform of the old educational system in order to make it at par with the western world. School years, curriculum, language of instruction, etc were changed. The new educational policy was introduced. The aim of this paper is to make a brief review of this system.
