Discovering cycling routes of national importance

Summary/Abstract: Bicycle traffic is an element of traffic infrastructure and deserves more attention. The article presents cycling as an ecologically and spatially undemanding traffic mode and a possibility for reviving urban and suburban areas. By the example of a local study group, organised by the Slovene ecological movement, possibilities are shown for public participation in spatial planning procedures, the integration of bicycle traffic as an equal element of local and national traffic infrastructure, promoting safe cycling and a healthy lifestyle, as well as promoting ecotourism.
