An Original Event in the 1500th Anniversary of the Bulgarian State

Summary/Abstract: A few introductory words emphasize the link of the National Ethnographic Exhibition, shown in Sofia at the Palace of National Culture in November and December, 1981, with the nationwide celebration of the 1300th Anniversary of the Bulgaria's State. The role of folk culture is further traced in the course of centuries as a powerful and steadfast inner force, from which our people drew support in overcoming the vicissitudes of their historical fate. A high appraisal is then given to our contemporary socialist culture, and its impressive achievements, its deep roots being found in the rich and lasting heritage of folk creativity. Considering more particularly the National Ethnographic Exhibition, the author calls it an inspired, invaluable and exquisite world of articles', gives data about its scale and emphasizes its importance as a conclusive feature in 'the first biennial national review of ethnographic treasures of its kind' in Bulgaria. A high appraisal is further given of the review, and in conclusion thanks are expressed to the scores of thousands of patriotic people all over the country who took an active part in the review and in preparing the Exhibition with devotion and high patriotic feelings.
