Summary/Abstract: The study „Tudor Arghezi between sacred and profane” proposes an approach of the dialectic of «sacred-profane» inside the arghezian creation, in the terms of the perpetuation of the sacred sense. The poet is addressing the divine authority and is also assuming the responsability of the imaginary dialogue. The research is based on preliminary studies of literary criticism, out of the controversy of which emerges the image of «homo duplex» in a monumental «ars poetica». The conscious of the limits coexists with the aspirations towards certainty, towards essential communication with a «deus absconditus». The desire of transcending intertwines with the dramatic character of the knowledge. The tensions generated by the tribulations of an «ece homo» lead to an attitude that seems to oscillate between «faith and hide».
