Summary/Abstract: An article dwells upon the unique experience of gold-diggers’ life based on the principles of gender segregation and male community. The settlement established on Chinese territory in 1883 was founded by those who wanted to receive the so-called «hot-money». Diggers lived far from their families, children, relatieves. As a result their «everyday life», their personal values and philosophy was different from other’s. The settlement of fugitive convicts and hired people of all types (where lived more than 10 000 people) transformed into economic and cultural centre of South Siberia. The article focuses on this phenomena.
