Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this article is to reconsider the extension and implicitly the meaning of the concept “paraphrase”. The observation we started from is that the paraphrase is commonly perceived as a rhetorical-pragmatic instrument used to “translate” the source-text into the paraphrasing-text. This is an external operation with communicative and didactic implications. The intra-textual relation between the generative “nucleus” (as a deep structure) and its paraphrase (as a surface structure) has been less studied so far; therefore we shall also consider the po(i)etic dimension of the paraphrase. The interplay reveals the “dynamic equivalence” of meaning transfers used in teaching texts, in writing scientific essays, in learning foreign languages, in understanding the poetic display of amplification.
