Amendments, additions and rectifications on the biographies of some members of the Callimachi family

Summary/Abstract: Even though there are some consistent studies and a great amount of documentary material that is already published by A. D. Xenopol and N. Iorga, the genealogy of the Callimachi family is still far away from being complete, especially for the XVIIIth century. If the origins of this family have been conjectured by N. Iorga, scarcely the contributions signed by Ştefan S. Gorovei have established without doubt the native Orheian family that gave Moldavia no less than three princes and many other dignitaries. But both the family genealogy, and also the biographies of its prominent members mixed over time false assumptions, misinformations and unsubstantiated arguments. In this text I tried to explain some of these inconsistencies by bringing new informations, being now certified by contemporary evidence and logical arguments. There remain, however, many issues that require additional exploration, deepening the archivistic research and a more attentive and careful arrangement of the information so that some aspects could be solved at today's level of research, aspects that have not found no valid answers yet. Statutes and additions to the biographies of the Callimachi family members are designed to bring to light where there sat doubt. Where I thought there can be added certain things I did it with the conscience that much more can be said, and perhaps most of them are still lying in the archive funds known or not (yet).
