Political entities before the foundation of Moldavia, in the northern part of its territory: a renewed analysis

Summary/Abstract: A preliminary stage in the inquest of how was established the northern border of Moldavia in the 14th century should be a renewed analysis of all the sources for the time before the foundation of the new country, searching for evidence of theexistence of some Romanians' political entities in the area, from which the boundaries could have been inherited by the country that supposedly unified them, Moldavia. Although in Romanian historiography it was assumed that this way of reconstructing the past is the most plausible, the analysis proved that, according to our knowledge, there isn't any source proving that a Romanians' political entity existed in the northern area of the future principality in the first half of the 14th century. This conclusion restricts the upper limit of the research's time frame to the moment of Moldavia's foundation.
