Summary/Abstract: In this interview prof. dr. Bruno Naarden presents his views about his life and the developments in the historical profession and academic life in the Netherlands during the decades after the Second World War. Prof. Naarden shares his opinion about East European, Russian and Soviet Studies during the Cold War and postcommunist period. According to him in the present — day situation when in many places in Eastern Europe we face the growing nationalism in Western Europe the interest toward the past is most of all cultural one.
