Summary/Abstract: The memories of Elisabeth Faerber are part of her seminar work on autobiographical studies carried out at the University of Graz in 1998. They are based on her mother Theresia memories and on her own experience. Left an orphan Theresia brought up her sister on her own during the First World War. Then she studied cookery and worked as a servant in Vienna. Elisabeth relates about her efforts to provide a normal life for her family during the Second world war and to keep her central position in the family life later. Elisabeth Faerber emphasises the need to relate the life story of her mother which directed her interest to the biographical studies.
