Summary/Abstract: This study aims to present a group of objects belonging to the early Neolithic, category of finds known as 'altars', 'small altars' or 'cult tables’. The items were discovered on sites in Măgura, Teleorman County and are one of the largest groups of such objects found in southern Romania. The artefact types belonging to two chronological sequences: Starčevo-Criş I and Starčevo- Criş III are examined. The discussion takes into account the terminology, functionality, morphology and context of the finds, as well as their connection to similar discoveries in south-eastern Europe.
