Summary/Abstract: This article specifies the extent to which some factors can influence the tendency to allow the transgression of authority norm by in-group members (Schellenberg, 1974). The present research examines the factors affecting deviant behaviors tolerance: group cohesion (experiment 1) and authority norm and task importance (experiment 2). The results of experiment 1 confirmed the prediction that group cohesion influences the perception of deviance - the members of cohesive groups were more tolerant than the individuals from non-cohesive groups. Experiment 2 supported the interactive impact of authority norm type and task importance on tolerance of deviant behaviors of group members. The results suggest a strong relationship between group cohesion, authority norm and task importance and, on the other hand, the tolerance of deviant behaviors.
