Yugoslav Air Force Prior To The War With Nato 1999

Summary/Abstract: The article gives an overview of the Yugoslav Air Force acivities in the period between 1992 and 1998, prior to the Kosovo air campaign that NATO launched gainst Serbia in 1999. Development of the organisation, unit structure and daily problems of the Air Force are analyised on the basis of the original documentation. The article points the downsizing of the YAF after the civil war in 1991–2, several structural changes, and the decline of the combat readiness. Of the note is analysis of its readiness in late 1998, which shows low capabiliteis that YAF had on the eve of the Air War with NATO that started in March 1999.
