The Issue of Recognition and Social Work Theory

Summary/Abstract: The article endeavors to broaden the cognitive perspective of social work theory by including into it the issue of recognition, at present one of the most widely discussed topics in the area of social theory. As it is shown, the notion of recognition and its neighboring concepts allow for the definition of the detailed typology of social exclusion and assistance activities categories. Moreover, they help dwell on social work in the perspective of assistance activities methods and tools, and on its function within the democratic civil community.
