Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of certain parameters of the socio-economic status of different categories of women employed in the private sector - employers, self-employed, and employees. On the basis of empirical data and statistical information is shown that women's position in the sector determines the growing differentiation in terms of their income as well as with respect to their consumption, health, prosperity and quality of life. Special attention has been paid to the particularly poor work conditions for certain groups of employed women; to the non-regulated working hours; to low payment; to violations of laws concerning women's labour and motherhood; to infringed reproductive rights, etc. The stress has been laid upon the urgent need of improvement in Labour Law in accordance not only with economic expedience but also with the development of "human potential" in our country, namely the one of women in the private sector.
