Summary/Abstract: The problem of young homeless is more and more present in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, in Kent region. With all these, one knows it is very difficult to quantify the exact number of these people, due to the unstable nature of the group; still, there are certain signs that this population tends to grow. Studies done in Great Britain on the young homeless population focused on those of ages ranging between 13-25 years, without a stable and autonomous residence. These studies distinguish among the runaways, those of adult age who do not have a stable residence or do not stay in bed and breakfast hostels, and the rough-sleepers (Firdion, 2000) etc. These social categories are also present in France. The publication of this article has been possible due to a research related to a European project (INTERREG) in collaboration with the Social Institute Lille Vauban of the Catholic University of Lille and with the Christ Church Canterbury University. The main purposes of the project were to analyze the life trajectories of young homeless (of ages ranging between 16-25 years), to understand the sense they confer to these trajectories, the evaluation of the help they receive, the evaluation and the comparison of the social work politics for this population, and the designing of a guide for the social support of the young homeless.
