Summary/Abstract: In 2000, the European Council agreed to make a decisive impact on the eradication of poverty and social exclusion by 2010. The e-Inclusion policy is one of the pillars of the i2010 initiative. Its main goal is to promote programs which provide assistive technology solutions to eliminate barriers for people with disabilities, to make information technology accessible to all. Assistive technology solutions can help disabled people overcome isolation and loneliness, to increase their social and autonomy skills and enrich them with the joy of life. EU adopted in 2010 the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) which develops strategies, guidelines and resources to help make Web accessible to people with disabilities, by the help of Web sites with special applications, Web browsers and media players and evolving Web technologies.
