Summary/Abstract: In the presented study an analysis was performed of the relationship between Conflict and Facilitation between family role and work role, and the quality of life of occupationally active parents. The analysis covered the quality life in work and family domains: satisfaction with work and marriage, and work and marital distress, as well as the global quality of life: life satisfaction and distress. The study covered 151 females and 151 males from dual-career families. It was observed that the Conflict role is associated with negative effects, in the domain which is the source of difficulties (a sending domain), as well as in the domain subjected to difficulties-inducing influences (a receiving domain), and with respect to the global quality of life. Facilitation is related with positive effects only with respect to the quality of life in the domain which is the source of influences facilitating the performance of role in another domain, and with the global quality of life. The results were interpreted in the light of Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, the source attribution theory, social exchange theory, and norms of reciprocity.
