Summary/Abstract: Heracleodorus, a critic known from Philodemus‘ On Poems, Book I, thought that a poet can only be considered great if he or she is able to write a fine poem even on garlic. Horace did this in Epode 3, thus making fun of extreme formalist like Heracleodorus.
