Child's rights

Summary/Abstract: This article deals in the first place with the phenomenon of the growing interest in children's rights. Specyfically the changing image of the child and the quackly evolving human rights project will be discussed. The second part highlights some basic characteristics of the Convention and advocates the importance of the chalenge of the children's rights project as a geopolitical binding social contract. Some basic requirements for the latter will be treated in the third prt of the article. Specific attension is given to the relationship between education and children's rights in the fourth part. Human (Children's) Pights education as one of the main esponsibilities has be taken seriously also at the adacemic level. In the last part of this article some activities of the Children's Rights Centre (University of Gent) will illustrate the implementation at this level.
