Summary/Abstract: Lusatians, the smallest Slavonic nation, have lived on the area of Germany for ages. Their culture has survived till now – they have preserved their own language, customs, they have set up a number of cultural institutions, thanks to which they can support their cultural identity and uniqueness. However, the years of contact with predominant German culture have shaped their contemporary culture. German media offer a folk vision of the Lusatians, where contemporary significance of their culture is missed out, though it has undergone numerous changes though centuries. Nowadays, their lifestyle does not differ from the lifestyle of the German – their identity is hybrid, consisting of both Slavonic and Germanic elements.
