Summary/Abstract: Online journalism represents a controversial novelty and there are diverse reactions to this phenomenon. The notions of hypertext, interactivity and multimedia have been adopted in the organisational culture of journalism in the last 10 years. Although the web has just celebrated its 15th birthday, scientific discussions and empirical evidence concerning the impacts of online journalism on journalist profession are still quite rare. This paper opens up the question of journalistic perceptions and interpretations of how the Internet is being used in the context of their profession. With the help of a recent empirical study »The European journalist and the Internet« the paper explores the attitudes of journalists regarding the consequences of the Internet and their opinions about online journalism.
