Opportunities of financing the development of rural areas in the years 2014-2020 within the frames of cohesion policy and Common Agricultural Policy

Summary/Abstract: Rural areas have a very important collective function providing a lot of public goods. The aim of this elaboration is to point out rural areas as the regions of specific government intervention. The essential aspect of the work is to present how local authorities perceive rural areas in the realization of sustainable development concept in particular regions. In this work the method of analysis of EU and national documents and descriptive method was used. Financial means for the realization of Cohesion Policy in rural areas can be allocated to the development of water and sewage infrastructure, water management system, development of enterprises, as well as social and infrastructural revitalization of villages. In the ROP LV the thematic objectives and investment priorities for rural areas were set, yet the key for distribution of funds to be allocated to particular investment priorities in urban and rural areas has not been determined so far.
