Summary/Abstract: The family is a divinely originated institution, established from the creation. It was constituted through marriage, the main characteristics of which have been, from the very beginning, the unity and indissolubility. During the Old Testament period, the marriage and the family have been ordained by God for the accomplishment of both man and woman, with the meaning of having to help each other throughout their life. When, sometimes, the husband has understood to make the one who was given to him as a help by God into an object of his possession, he has in fact abandoned the goal for which the marriage and the family have been established. The family life was truly bringing happiness only in the monogamous marriages, in which the husband and the wife were making an indestructible moral unit (Genesis 2:24). Sometimes, polygamy was practiced by the Hebrews, also, but it has been born as an abnormal state, an abuse as compared to the divine will.During the New Testament and patristic periods, the marriage and the family have found again their true goals. In the Christianity, the marriage and the family do realize, in miniature, the ecclesial communion, by cultivating even through the family. By finding out, regretfully, the actual existence of so many tattered families, of an extremely high number of abortions and family abandonment, as well as of a concrete negligence of the education within the family, we realize that, in many cases the true destine of the family – which was restored by our Savior Jesus Christ – was undone, or it has known some other dimensions which are dangerous for the Christian moral and disadvantageous to the human society. There cannot be another remedy but the one which consists of giving back to the family the holiness and indissoluble unity dimensions, by the Holy Mystery of Marriage, which stems from the Holy Apostles and Holy Fathers teachings. This is not an easy way; but we believe that it is the only Way able to reveal us the true existential joy and the authentic sense of our passing together, through time, toward the truly happy life.
