Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on the key features ol the last presidential elections 2004 in Ukraine. The president Leonid Kuchma did not represent the democratic leadership, he controlled the Parliament with the help of pro-presidential majority, also judges, state mass-media, but not the voting process. After the second round of the presidential elections, Novemher 21, the opposition accused the government with thefalsification of votes. The opposition with the leaders, former Prime Minister Victor Yushchenko and his Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, organized demonstrations called Orange Revolution. Long term demonstrations, the fact that part of the state bureaucracy moved on the side of the opposition and isolation of Victor Yanukovych after the second round led to the organization of the new elections that were followed by the victory of Victor Yuschenko.
