Summary/Abstract: The hereby paper compares countries’ creativity based on the example of Global Creativity Index. The introduction presents theoretical problems of creativity including developmental determinants in territorial units. It was emphasized that creativity exerts positive influence on innovation processes by initiating the desirable values in economic and social sectors in a dynamic manner. Next the methodology of Global Creativity Index preparation, based on 3T concept (Technology, Talent, Tolerance), was characterized in relation to socio-economic development of territorial units. One of the assumptions ingrained in this concept is referring to human creativity as a basic source of the mentioned above development. In general, countries which aspire to be creative and in consequence develop more dynamically, to be competitive and attractive on the global market should invest in high-tech solutions, innovations, Zestawienie kreatywności krajów na przykładzie Global Creativity Index 23 education and development of their inhabitants, as well as respect diversity and tolerance. The core of the study consists of selected comparisons referring to countries’ creativity within the framework of Global Creativity Index (Technology Index, Talent Index, Tolerance Index constituting the main GCI index with Sweden as its leader). Top position in GCI ranking may be regarded by particular countries as a synonym of high prestige and another form of promotion at an international arena manifesting itself by a strengthened image. The index advantage is offering information in which areas of countries’ functioning an improvement is required on their way heading towards creativity and development. The summary includes chosen reservations and remarks referring to methodology of index preparation.
