Summary/Abstract: The study comes up with the assumption that the functions of Vladimir Propp, referring to Russian fairytales could prove helpful to make an effective analysis of comic strips. The examples given in the work have been taken from French comic series, published since the early 1960s in France and Belgium with slight modifications of the pattern until 2012. This type of comics incorporates part of the functions of fairytales. Such an insight could well serve to use Propp’s major work in other narratives. It could also prove helpful to a better typology and classification of comic books as a whole. By bringing to date Propp’s structure with regard to new devices of the art of comics and the subsequent interactive narrations in other media, researchers might gain a deeper insight into the role of contemporary mass culture in mythology of narration in its whole history.
