Summary/Abstract: History of terrorism is dating back from ancient times, its evolving forms mirroring the society context. The World Wars inflamed passions and hopes of nationalists around the world and, seriously affected international order and the legitimacy of governments. Modern terrorism culminated with 2001 9/11 attacks on some emblematic objectives of the United States. Globalization affects us all directly. In this context, the correct assessment of opportunities and risks posed by globalization is necessary, distancing us from the current trend to demonize, or, in opposition, to praise the consequences of this phenomenon. Changes produced by globalization at society level, induce transformation in actors’ and population’s perception of security threats. Globalization has transformed terrorism into a global one.
